Launching Rules & Procedure
Procedure For Launching
The tractor collects the vessel and hooks it up in the boat compound. Before moving off check tow connection with tractor - slow speeds, safety chain from trailer to tractor. Please leave your vehicle in one of the public car parks whilst at sea.
The vessel is towed to the beach and backed up to the waters edge ready for launching, taking great care for oncoming traffic when crossing the public highway.
Public are to be kept clear when launching vessels and great care must be taken to ensure that there are no bathers in between the vessel launching groynes. Do not launch unless it is safe to do so.
The tractor driver will ask βAre you Ready to Go' and once confirmation is given the customer unhooks their winch from the trailer and the vessel is then backed into the water until it floats.
The trailer is then towed back up the beach to a safe storage area.
Safety Information
All vessels must proceed directly to sea at not more than 10mph for at least 300m from the tide line. Keep a good lookout for other vessels, swimmers, and structures.
You must not ride the tractor or trailer at any time, you should only embark your vessel once at the waters edge.
Procedure For Recovery
ALL vessels are required to beach for recovery. Tractor drives to waters edge, reverses, and then pulls the vessel clear of the water onto beach using the tow rope.
Hitch up the trailer, return to vessel and pull vessel onto trailer using tractor winch. Customer then checks the vessel is secure on the trailer and finally secures with the vessel's own hand winch.
The vessel is then towed back to the washing area in the yard and unhitched. When ready the tractor will return you to your berth.
